How it started.

Simple - we wanted to watch these films ourselves! After attending film festivals and seeing films on topics or with angles we had never seen before we started feeling the gap. How had we not known about these directors or films before?

Stats.

It’s no secret the film industry has historically been biased. A Slate magazine survey estimates films by women directors are 67% percent less distributed. And this despite winning key prizes at leading film festivals. We decided to correct the access curve. (For some more stats have a look here. )

Curation.

We know there are mind-blowing films you have been missing out on. Even film schools aren’t reviewing classics by women directors. Our curation is committed to tracking iconic films, past and present, with no taboos and a festival-quality guarantee.

Directors.

There are and have been more women directors than you think! We are helping you discover them. Past directors? Nelly Kaplan of the New Wave. Current directors? Alexandra Latishev, rising star in Costa Rica. Nicole Palo, Belgian quirky comedy director. There’s a lot to catch up on.

Giving back.

We know you’ll love these films and we want the ecosystem to benefit from it. That’s why we give back part of our revenue to right owners of the films, and sometimes directors too, to feed the system for more.

Share it.

Be part of the change and share our films with friends, family, fellow film-lovers. It’s time we put women directors back on the film map. It’s part of our film canon and now we can make it happen. Happy watching!
